An investigation was taking place after an El Paso police officer fired at an armed man Sunday night in a Lower Valley neighborhood, police said.
There were no injuries reported in the Sept. 8 armed confrontation, which occurred at a home in the 300 block of Ramona Avenue in the Ramona neighborhood next to North Loop Drive, just east of Delta Drive and the oil refinery area, a police spokesman said.
The shooting took place about 7:50 p.m. after police responded to call of family argument that was upgraded to a call of aggravated family violence involving a weapon while officers were on their way to the location, police spokesman Officer Adrian Cisneros said.
When police arrived, a 27-year-old man ignored officers’ commands and refused to exit the house, Cisneros said.
During the standoff, the man allegedly pointed a weapon at an officer. The officer then fired. The man soon surrendered and was arrested. There were no reported injuries, Cisneros said.
Names and charges were not immediately disclosed.
