There’s less than a month left to register to vote in Texas for the 2024 election, and there’s a push from counties across the nation to get more people to cast their ballot this National Voter Registration Day, celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 17.
The nonpartisan civic holiday comes only a few weeks before the deadline to submit a voter application — the last day to register to vote in Texas for the 2024 election is Monday, Oct. 7.
Support for the holiday is continuing to grow, according to nationalregistionrationday.org, with the number of major national partners supporting the holiday increasing by 42% since the last presidential election.
The El Paso County Elections Department will join in the effort to get more eligible citizens to cast their ballots by heading out to several colleges and universities to help people get registered.
“Together we will coordinate a democracy blitz aimed at getting every eligible Citizen registered to vote in advanceof election 2024! Every eligible voter should have the option to exercise his or her right to be heard,” said Lisa Wise, elections administrator for the El Paso County Elections Department in a news release.
